Requirements for Placement
< Back to Application
Procedure
While we will consider applications from all interested parties,
PFH reserves the right to refuse purchase to anyone with whom
we are not comfortable placing a kit/adult. Our primary goal is
safe, knowledgeable forever homes for our ferrets. A kit is not
ideal for everyone nor is every ferret right for every home. We
will only place the right ferret in the right home.
We will not place a ferret to anyone who:
- Is less than 21 years of age. We will, however, consider
the application of a parent of a person under this age.
- Does not have a good understanding of the needs of ferrets
and the responsibility required for good ownership. We will
be happy to help educate any applicant who wishes to become
more knowledgeable, and we do encourage applicants to volunteer
at a local shelter or ferretry for a period of time while learning
more about ferrets.
- Does not have the means to provide appropriate food, medical
care, and attention to a ferret.
- Wishes to purchase a ferret for any reason other than to
be a cherished family pet. Ferrets adopted may not be used for
any working purpose, such as hunting, nor will we adopt ferrets
to be used as classroom pets, petting zoo animals, etc.
- Is not willing to comply with all requirements presented
in our placement contract. If you would like to review a copy
of our placement contract, please contact
me.
Once a ferret is placed from the PFH, we expect that the relationship
between adoptive party and the ferretry will be ongoing. We ask
for occasional updates, and we reserve the right to contact clients for follow-up purposes. This allows us not only to keep
track of the ferrets that we have placed and therefore track and
improve our lines, but also to provide an ongoing resource for
the ferret owner to ask questions and continually learn more about
ferrets.
Placement Fees
Placement fees vary with the individual being considered. All
kits/adults are placed on pet only contracts. We do not place
ferrets for breeding purposes. It is the responsibility of the
new owner to have the ferret spayed or neutered by the agreed
upon time frame unless otherwise stated in the placement contract.
Averages costs for our ferrets ranges from $175-$250 depending
on age and lineage.
